About This Initiative

Delta state food bank is a nutrition oriented initiative born out of the dearth of food experienced by many households during this Corona pandemic. The initiative supports the State government to distribute palliatives to residents and indigenous people of Delta state in a bid to fight the growing high rise hunger problem. 
The Food banks provide vital hunger relief to children and families in need during this pandemic. The initiative has been able to employ food relief mechanisms by creatively overcoming supply challenges to safely provide meals to children and families facing hunger

Delta State Government Palliative Support Platform

Delta State (recognized on August 27, 1991) is an oil and agricultural producing state in Nigeria. It is situated in the region known as the South-South geo-political zone with a population of 4,112,445 (males: 2,069,309; females: 2,043,136). The capital city is Asaba, located at the northern end of the state, with an estimated area of 762 square kilometres (294 sq mi), while Warri is the economic nerve center of the state and also the most populated. It is located in the southern end of the state. The state has a total land area of 16,842 square kilometres (6,503 sq mi).

There are various solid mineral deposits within the state – industrial clay, silica, lignite, kaolin, tar sand, decorative rocks, limestone, etc. These are raw materials for industries such as brick making, ceramics, bottle manufacturing, glass manufacturing, chemical/insulators production, chalk manufacturing and sanitary wares, decorative stone cutting and quarrying…

Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa

Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa was born on the 8th Of July, 1959 at Owa-Alero in the present Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State. He had his early education at the Iroro primary school, Owa-Alero and later attended the famous Edo College, Benin City between 1970 and 1976. He graduated with the second best result in the Higher School Certificate Examination in the then Bendel State in 1976. Thereafter, he proceeded to the University of Ibadan to study Medicine and Surgery, where he graduated in 1981 with MBBS, at the record age of 22. Upon completion of the National Youth Service Corps in 1982; he worked briefly with the defunct Bendel State Hospitals Management Board as a Medical Officer before he went into private practice as Director, Victory Medical Centre, Igbanke in 1986. He went on to open another branch at Boji-Boji, Owa. Dr. Okowa’s humanitarian and philanthropic disposition over the years endeared him to his people as he often rendered free medical services to the poor in his community. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa displays highly developed craftsmanship in his approach to work and challenges and this is evident in his constructive leadership and in his growing political profile.
